Week 13 Power Picks and Predictions

Week 13 is upon us. I’m sitting on the couch waiting to leave and head to the turkey dinner, so the power rankings will be abbreviated this week. Have a good holiday and don’t eat too much turkey.

And here are my predictions for the last week of the regular season:

Team Plumer 119 at My Jim Schwartz are dirty
- Plumer is the darkhorse favorite to win the league at this point. Jim’s winning streak ends and so do their playoff hopes.

Corn on the Kolb 120 at 110 Cardinal Nation
- Paper beats Rock, Father beats Son.

Team Mexico 75 vs 70 Grilled Brees Shamich
- This one will be close, could go either way, wow, high scoring game, yeah.

Paris fredette Two Direction 115 vs 60 Team 8
- Why do people start playing fantasy and then never check their team after week 2?

Angry Wookie 100 vs 95 Team Skooter
- This week is just depressing. Let’s skip to the playoffs.

Now, go out there and enjoy your pumpkin flavored desserts and your family traditions. Happy Thanksgiving!

Week 12 in Review

After Week 12 the West Division looks like this:

Nothing much changed. Two Direction and Plumer are still headed to the playoffs with the best records in the league. Mexico reached the .500 mark and is favored heading into the final game of the season against Shamich.

And the East Division looks like this:

Remember those matchups we talked about last week? Well Skooter and Wookie both lost. That puts Skooter out of reach of the playoffs and Wookie dangerously close to missing them as well. It appears ESPN doesn’t take into account division records when deciding playoff berths. That’s a real shame, because Jim Schwartz is on a 4 game winning streak and has a winning record against division opponents. Too little, too late.

And last but not least, let's find out how those predictions ended up:

Grilled Brees Shamich 101 at 100 Cardinal Nation
- Actual score: Cardinal Nation 72 vs 62 Grilled Brees Shamich

Angry Wookie 115 at 90 My Jim Schwartz are dirty
- Actual score: My Jim Schwartz are dirty 90 vs 82 Angry Wookie

Team Plumer 120 at 60 Team 8
- Actual score: Team Plumer 118 at 75 Team 8

Team Mexico 95 at 90 Paris fredette Two Direction
- Actual score: Team Mexico 94 at 64 Paris fredette Two Direction

Corn on the Kolb 116 vs 115 Team Skooter
- Actual score: Corn on the Kolb 78 vs 71 Team Skooter

Results: I went 3-2 this week. Look for an updated Power Rankings some time tomorrow evening.

Week 12 Preview, Power Picks, and Predictions

Week 12 is upon us. Two weeks left until the fantasy football playoffs start. What better time to start Pooks Gang Power Rankings than right now?

The West Division looks like this:

Team
W
L
T
Pct
GB
Paris fredette Two Direction

Team Plumer

Team 8

As you can already tell the Western Division is pretty much decided. Two Direction and Plumer are headed to the playoffs. Even if Plumer lost their last two games and Mexico won out, Plumer would still make it as the #4 seed. But this scenario is unlikely because Plumer plays the worst team in the division in Week 12 and Mexico isn't getting any help from the USA this time around.

We now move to the East Division which looks like this:

Team
W
L
T
Pct
GB
Corn on the Kolb

Angry Wookie

The playoff race is much closer on this side of the fence! Everyone but Nation has a shot at the playoffs and what puts the cherry on top of this ice cream sundae is that the top four teams in this division play each other in Week 12 and the (current) second and third place teams face off in Week 13.

Just look at the matchups:

Now that we got the nitty gritty out of the way, let’s move on to the Power Rankings.

As you can see from the Power Rankings the league is pretty competitive 1 through 7. Even the seventh place team is on a three game winning streak. This is fantasy football, anything can happen! Nick Freaking Foles proved that during Week 9.

Keep an eye on the East Division these next two weeks. All five teams are fighting for those two spots and the road doesn't get any easier once the playoff matchups are decided. This author’s predictions for the coming week:

Grilled Brees Shamich 101 at 100 Cardinal Nation
- Shamich wins this one thanks to the Saints

Angry Wookie 115 at 90 My Jim Schwartz are dirty
- Schwartz’s RB situation is too flimsy this week

Team Plumer 120 at 60 Team 8
- Plumer’s high powered offense is too much for the injured Jay Cutler (c’mon man)

Team Mexico 95 at 90 Paris fredette Two Direction
- Two Direction’s bench is the smallest in the league. Unless he picks up an RB between now and Sunday, Mexico will enjoy a win this week.

Corn on the Kolb 116 vs 115 Team Skooter
- this is the Game of the Week in my opinion. Skooter holds the advantage in almost every position, but Kolb has Peyton Manning and the potent Panther defense. (alright I’ll be honest, I flipped a coin on this one, I just couldn't decide)
