Week 5, 2014

Another wild week in Metros League has come to a close and we are already a quarter-way through the season. If you really want to see the standings and stuff you're welcome to open your app or login on the computer and look it up for yourself. I'm going to take a different approach with this week's post and examine some factors that have proven to be quite interesting this season.

But first, to the coaches poll!

We had a tie for second in the voting, however, Not the Cowboys has both a better record and the victory in the head-to-head matchup during Week 2.

Let's examine some fascinating things I have noticed about this season. This link right here takes you to the draft recap for our league. Here are some interesting facts about the draft.

- The number one draft pick, LeSean McCoy, plays for the last place team in the league.

- The top ranked QB, Andrew Luck, went 30th overall as the last pick in Round 5.*

- The number two draft pick, Adrian Peterson, no longer plays for the team that drafted him.

- The second ranked WR, Jordy Nelson, was traded away from the team that drafted him.

- The top ranked WR, Antonio Brown, went 29th overall in Round 5.

- The second ranked QB, Phillip Rivers, went 73rd overall and no longer plays for the team that drafted him.

- The defending champion, Corn on the Cobb, drafted three QB in the first 10 rounds.

- The second place team, Not the Cowboys, has picked up 5 players from the waiver wire.

- The fifth place team, Bogeys Boys, has picked up 6 players from the wire and no longer has his original defense.

- And finally, the first place team, Angry Wookies, was on AUTODRAFT during the draft and has made 14 waiver wire acquisitions and one trade.

I realize this post now sounds like a big bragging session and I promise it's not. It was merely an exercise in observation. You don't have to have an amazing draft to succeed in fantasy football. You do have to be active and watching your players and willing to not get too attached to anyone. If you sit on a player for too long they might beat someone up and then on Saturday at 11:59 pm you realize you're left without any options at RB for the game tomorrow and end up starting Shane Vereen simply because he was the best available option on the wire. Don't start Shane Vereen. Especially in a 6-team league.

Remember! It's just a game. Have fun with it!
